Benefits of Rhythmic Gymnastics

There are many important benefits to be gained from training in the sport of rhythmic gymnastics and dance.

  1. Aid in the bone structure development of the young. The routines aim to develop slender and elegant physique of the gymnast with an air of gracefulness, improving outward appearance and good posture

  2. The manipulation of light apparatus will significantly improve the bone and muscle tone of the gymnast’s upper and lower body as well as the core. More importantly, through the development of psychomotor skills, one’s reflexes and flexibility is strengthened.

  3. Development of the gymnast’s multi-plane movements, improving the gymnast’s sense of body mobility and flexibility. While the mobility of most exercises is limited to the horizontal and vertical plane of movement, Rhythmic Gymnastics trains the gymnasts in another plane of mobility, the Oblique plane which is utilised in flips and sommersauts. The multiple plane of mobility will better equip the gymnast’s body with an innate sense of balance and stability.

  4. As rhythmic gymnastics movements are always accompanied by music and dance, the long hours of training will cultivate in the gymnast a strong awareness of her emotional wellbeing. She also hones an appreciation of the beauty for the fine arts, all essential to developing her positive temperament.
